Introducing Filamento

A sculptural study of light, introduced by Astep at Milan Design Week

Filamento originates from a moment of observation rather than a formal brief. While studying how light passes through glass, Mayice Studio encountered an unexpected optical phenomenon: under precise conditions, light appeared to concentrate into a single, luminous line. What followed was an investigation into geometry, refraction, and the delicate relationship between material and energy.

Formed from a single, undulating glass tube measuring over one metre in length, Filamento is a study in restraint and precision. Its geometry is carefully calibrated to guide photons through concave and convex surfaces, transforming light into a linear, almost immaterial presence. When illuminated, the physical form recedes, allowing light itself to take centre stage.

Spaces defined by light

Filamento is conceived for interiors where light is expected to do more than illuminate. Its linear presence and sculptural clarity make it particularly suited to high‑end settings: boutique hotel lobbies, refined dining rooms, premium meeting spaces, and expressive residential kitchens and living areas. Whether installed as a singular gesture above a table or composed into multi‑element arrangements within large volumes, Filamento introduces structure, calm, and a sense of quiet drama.

Precision, quietly engineered

Powered by a standard GU10 light source, deliberately chosen for its simplicity and longevity. Readily available and easily replaceable, it allows the lamp to remain serviceable over time – extending its life well beyond passing technological cycles. Fully dimmable and controllable, the light offers flexibility without compromising atmosphere. Crafted entirely in Italy, Filamento employs specially selected glass capable of withstanding temperature variations.
