In the hills north of Perugia, where vineyards and woodland fold into the Umbrian countryside, a 400-year-old stone farmhouse has been skilfully transformed into a five-bedroom holiday home. Casella is approached along an avenue of cypress trees, its original cotto floor tiles and wooden ceiling beams left as the quiet centerpiece of the restoration. Carrara marble, warm woods and a soft, autumnal palette carry the same restraint through every room, finished with a precise selection of furnishings and lighting.
Models 237/1|238/1 and 237/2|238/2 find their way through the house room by room: bathrooms, bedrooms, the hallway, each one lit by the same idea. One or two opaline glass spheres, each held in a steel ring cut to let the sphere turn up or down. Gino Sarfatti designed it in 1959 and called the effect the perfect light emitted by the moon. Astep reissued it in 2018.
In the kitchen, the sculptural VV Cinquanta Twin lights the artwork, and in the master bedroom, VV Cinquanta Floor sits beside the sofa. Both were designed by Vittoriano Viganò in 1951 and reissued by Astep in 2017.
